Why the airport beats the resorts
It sounds backwards — you expect the airport to be the expensive option — but the numbers say otherwise, and the reason is simple: competition. We found 21 cars available at AGP and only 4 in Estepona. More supply, lower price.
What this means for you: even if you are staying in Marbella, Fuengirola or Estepona, it almost always pays to collect the car at the airport and drive. It is 20 to 70 minutes on the AP-7, and the saving is real.

What will actually cost you money (and is not in the price)
- The fuel policy. Always choose "full-to-full". "Full-to-empty" charges you a whole tank at the company's price and you gift them whatever you do not use.
- The deposit. Many companies block €300–€1,200 on your card. On our search you can filter for no deposit and no credit card.
- Counter insurance. They will offer it, and that is where they make their money. Check what your booking already covers before you fly.
- Booking late. August prices climb every week. Book 2–3 months ahead and you pay noticeably less.
